Recycle & use your old Hard Drive as a portable drive
Portable hard drives even with prices coming down can be somewhat still expensive to some users, especially if the budget is tight. Sure you could probably post the old hard drive for sale online, give it to friends or family but sometimes we all run into situations where we need just a little more space, and having that spare can be a lifesaver.
Hard Drive Enclosures
With an enclosure, it takes 5 minutes tops (my experience with mine, others may be different) to get it open, slide a hard drive out, and add a new one.
